Toshogu Shrine

Toshogu Shrine is the most famous landmark in Nikko and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. The shrine is renowned for its lavish architecture and intricate carvings, including the iconic Three Wise Monkeys and the Sleeping Cat. Toshogu represents the pinnacle of religious art and architecture during Japan’s Edo period.

Lake Chuzenji

Located at the foot of Mount Nantai, Lake Chuzenji was formed by volcanic activity. The lake is known for its clear water, cool climate, and surrounding mountain scenery. It is an ideal stop for relaxation and for appreciating Nikko’s tranquil natural environment.

Kegon Falls

Kegon Falls is one of the three most beautiful waterfalls in Japan, with a height of nearly 100 meters. Water from Lake Chuzenji plunges dramatically into the valley below, creating a powerful and scenic view. The waterfall is especially impressive during autumn foliage and winter seasons.

Nikko Old Town & Shinkyo Bridge

Shinkyo Bridge is one of Japan’s most sacred and picturesque bridges, marking the entrance to Nikko’s shrine area. The surrounding old town retains a peaceful atmosphere, allowing visitors to observe traditional architecture and local daily life. This area serves as a calm and fitting conclusion to the one-day tour.
